The Alaska Society for Technology in Education created a scholarship fund with The Alaska Community Foundation to support outstanding Alaskan students in the pursuit of technology education. The yearly scholarship will provide an award of $1,000 to qualified applicants. The Alaska Community Foundation will accept scholarship applications beginning January 21, 2013, and the deadline for applications is 9:00pm on February 18, 2013.

Students interested in more information or to apply for the Scholarship Program can do so by visiting www.alaskacf.org/scholarships or by calling (907) 274-6710. The Alaska CHARR Education Fund awards scholarships once a year to Alaska residents who are interested in pursuing a career in the Alaskan hospitality industry. The Nick Begich Scholarship provides financial support to exceptional young Alaskans who intend to pursue a degree in education, government, or public service. Application deadline is FEBRUARY 28th.
The application requires a 500 word essay addressing the following question: Each applicant must include a minimum 500-word statement on a separate sheet detailing your goals, the reasons you are applying, and any other information that would assist the Board of Directors in making its selections. Specifically, if you are applying for an education scholarship, please elaborate on why you want a career in education OR how a teacher made a difference in your life and how that experience has shaped your decision to go into education. If applying for a political science, government or public service scholarship, outline who in the current or historical political arena (city, state, or nation) would you most like to emulate and why, OR if you were a candidate for public office today, what would be your platform, OR if you were providing a public service today, what would be your motivation for providing that service? Application details may be found on the Nick Begich Scholarship Intern Fund site under the "Apply" tab. The Truman D. Picard scholarship is for Native students going into Natural Resources.
